Michael Ertl has been admitted as German and European Patent Attorney in 2023. He drafts and prosecutes patent applications before the European and German patent offices in the fields of chemistry/pharma, clean and green technologies and medical technology. In addition, he assists in the preparation of freedom-to-operate analyses as well as in opposition and appeal proceedings before the EPO.

Michael Ertl joined the Chemistry/Life Science team at WUESTHOFF & WUESTHOFF in 2020. He studied chemistry at the University of Bayreuth with a focus on materials chemistry and catalysis. His master’s thesis on electrochemical water splitting was prepared in cooperation with a research group at the University of Toronto.

Supported by a scholarship of the Hanns-Seidel Foundation, he researched inorganic layered structures and their behavior in electrochemical processes.
