Ralph-P. Andersen studied physics at the Universities of Kiel and Heidelberg and received his diploma in 1992. In 1996, he received his doctorate from the University of Munich for a thesis in the field of astrophysics with computer simulations on high-performance computers.

After a period of further scientific work, he was employed for several years by a globally active electrical engineering group, where he worked as a software developer and systems analyst in the telecommunications and mobile networks, network technologies business unit.

Since 2002, Ralph-P. Andersen has been working in the field of intellectual property and has worked for several renowned patent law firms of different sizes as well as a patent department of a large company. He was admitted as a patent attorney in 2006 and as a European patent attorney in 2008. From 2005 to 2009 he worked for WUESTHOFF & WUESTHOFF, and again since 2022.

His work focuses on patent prosecution including the drafting of patent applications in the fields of information and communication technologies, computer-implemented inventions including artificial intelligence in various fields of application, communications engineering, signal and data processing.
