Thomas Sonnenhauser studied chemistry at the Ludwig Maximilians University (LMU) in Munich and graduated in 2002 with a diploma thesis in the field of organometallic chemistry. He then prepared his PhD thesis, as a scholarship holder of the "Fonds der Chemischen Industrie" (fund of the chemical industry), in the field of organometallic chemistry at the LMU Munich, the Friedrich Schiller University Jena and at the UC Davis, California, USA.

In 2005, Thomas Sonnenhauser started his training as a patent attorney in Munich and was admitted as German and European Patent Attorney in 2009. His technical expertise particularly includes organometallic, organic and pharmaceutical chemistry as well as material science.

Thomas Sonnenhauser has extensive experience in patent matters before the German Patent and Trademark Office, the European Patent Office as well as the German Federal Patent Court. In addition to examination, opposition and nullity proceedings, he has also been involved in infringement proceedings. A further focus of his work is consulting and preparing legal opinions on validity and infringement of property rights.

Since March 2011, Thomas Sonnenhauser has been supporting the chemistry/pharma team at WUESTHOFF & WUESTHOFF.
