Silvia Schicker studied material science and process/chemical engineering at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg where she received her diploma in 1994. In the ensuing three years she conducted research in the field of high temperature resistant composite materials at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg and as a guest scientist at the University of California, Davis, USA, the results of which were published in more than 20 papers. After being awarded a doctorate for her research work, Silvia Schicker gained a degree in economics and thereafter worked as a consultant for Siemens AG for one year.

Following a period of legal and practical training at WUESTHOFF & WUESTHOFF, she was admitted as a German and a European Patent Attorney. Since then, she is involved in all aspects of obtaining, defending and enforcing national and international patents. Her practical activities cover the technical fields of material science, chemical engineering, green technologies, aircraft engineering and mechanical engineering.
