Robert Hein studied from 2003 to 2009 industrial engineering and management at the Technical University Hamburg-Harburg with a focus on production engineering. In his diploma thesis, he analyzed technological and economic factors influencing the decision to relocate the production facilities of a medium-sized company.

From 2009 to 2013, Mr. Hein pursued a Ph.D. at the Chair of Logistics Management at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management in Vallendar, spending a semester as a visiting scholar at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in the US in 2010. In his doctoral thesis, he analyzed sustainable production approaches such as reuse and remanufacturing.

Subsequently, Mr. Hein co-founded a company in Vienna, directed at the development, production, and sales of additive manufacturing systems. As managing director, he was responsible for the mechanical development, the operations such as the establishment of a production infrastructure and corresponding supply chains, as well as the registration of intellectual property rights.

Following the sale of the company in 2019, Mr. Hein decided to leverage and further expand his experience in intellectual property law. From 2020 to 2025, he completed a training at Hoffmann Eitle to become a qualified representative before the German Patent and Trademark Office, the European Patent Office, and the Unified Patent Court. At the same time, he completed a master’s degree in mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich, focusing on additive manufacturing and intellectual property law.

Since 2026, Mr. Hein has been supporting the team at Wuesthoff & Wuesthoff as a patent attorney in all areas of mechanical engineering, in particular additive manufacturing, medical engineering, and aerospace technology.
